Queens County Arraignments
Overview of Queens County Arraignments
Happily for those arrested in Queens County, the arrest to arraignment times in Queens have lately become among the best, if not the best in New York City with an average time hovering around 19 hours. Whether this is related to volume, specific procedures in Queens, or a combination, who can guess, but whatever the reason it is good news for people arrested and their friends and family. Before assuming that 19 hours is the new 24 hours, however, be mindful of the day of the week. As a general rule of thumb, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are generally still going to be busy and therefore 24 hours or even more should be seen as a likelihood on these days even in Queens.

Day Court lasts from 9:00AM - 5:00PM and Night Court lasts from 5:00PM - 1:00AM. These are general rules. The arraignment Courtroom in Queens is located in the East wing of the Queens Criminal Court Building. The East wing is the more modern portion with the large glass wall facing the small park on Hoover Ave.
During the day, the arraignment courtroom may be reached by going through the main entrance, taking a right turn after you walk through the metal detectors, walking to the East wing and taking the elevators down to the "G" level.
At night and on weekends and holidays, when the main Courthouse is closed, there is a special entrance for arraignments. It is located down a ramp toward the right hand side of the Courthouse if you are facing the courthouse standing on Queens Blvd. You will probably see people lingering at the entrance.
