Kings County Arraignments (Brooklyn Arraignments)
Overview of Kings County Arraignments
Brooklyn Arraignments tends to be one of the busier Arraignment Courts in New York City. The sheer volume of cases probably best explains how arrest to arraignment times in Brooklyn can be staggering upon occasion. I once had a client for a Brooklyn arraignment who took nearly three days to get from arrest to arraignment. While this is obviously not the norm, the reality is that someone who is arrested in Brooklyn from Thursday to Saturday is certainly not terribly likely to be arraigned before 24 hours. An arrest in Brooklyn over the weekend means a long haul ahead for the accused and family alike.
Location and Directions
Brooklyn Criminal Court Arraignments are mostly held in the Brooklyn Criminal Court building located at 120 Schermerhorn Street, Brooklyn. A small number of arraignments may also take place in Red Hook Community Court, located at 88-94 Visitation Place. Unless you have some specific reason to believe an arraignment is taking place in Red Hook Community Court, the working assumption should be that any arraignment in Brooklyn will be at 120 Schermerhorn Street.

Brooklyn Arraignment Hours
Monday through Sunday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. These are the official hours. During the Day Court shift, the Court will take a lunch break from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. During the Night Court shift, the Court will take a lunch break usually from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Upon occasion, on slow days (think Mondays), it is conceivable that even Brooklyn Arraignments will slow down and close a little earlier than 1:00 a.m.
