Shalley & Murray's second location is an office in Westchester County, from which we offer service to Westchester and Putnam Counties.  Our Westchester Office, located in Somers, New York, and managed by partner James Shalley, is conveniently located with respect to the myriad of local criminal courts that make up the Westchester County criminal justice system as well as the County Court in White Plains.

Mr. Shalley has wide ranging experience in the local Westchester courthouses and has become a familiar face to the judges, court staff, and the prosecutors of Westchester County.

Although not as frequently in Westchester, Mr. Murray also has experience in Westchester criminal courts.  In the fall of 2007, Mr. Murray successfully defended at a jury trial in Westchester County a man accused of stealing more than $60,000 worth of lottery tickets from a store.  This victory was especially remarkable because Mr. Murray's client signed a full written confession.  The defense legitimately challenged the so called confession as coerced.

Local Criminal Courts Abound in Westchester

Westchester County boasts quite a large number of small local, town, village, and city courts where misdemeanor cases (and unindicted felony cases) are heard.

Many of these local courts meet only once or twice a week, and sometimes only in the evening.  Additionally, there is a wide variety of often surprising interesting accommodations for the courts, like the old "Elephant Hotel" in Somers, pictured above.
